Gennifer Choldenko's Al Capone Does My Shirts, helps students understand autism through the eyes of a boy whose sister is autistic. The student worksheets in my packet are self- explanatory. They can be completed in small groups to encourage brainstorming, as assessments or as independent class work. Worksheets include: characters, character changes throughout the novel, plots and settings, themes, symbols, a note taking sheet, predictions, vocabulary, letter writing, connections, thought provoking questions, book marks, rising, falling action and climax, the five senses, figurative language, cause and effect, quotes, game cards, Tic Tac Toe, character traits, and an autism sheet. Websites about autism are included, as well as my detailed suggestions and successful ways to teach the novel.
The student worksheets are all in black and white except the bookmarks. There are a total of 32 pages in this packet. Best for grades 6 - 8
